HiRE site back online; claimants can now file online, payments will be processed within 36 hours

BATON ROUGE, La. – Louisiana Workforce Commission’s HiRE site is back online. This comes after Geographic Solutions (GSI), the company that operates it, discovered an attempted malware attack that required it to take state labor exchanges and unemployment claims systems offline. The resulting outage from the attack has also impacted as many as 40 other states which use GSI.

Claimants, new and returning, can now file claims online and payments will start processing soon. As a result of new vendor security features, payments could take up to 36 hours to process. No additional action is required from claimants. Payment of benefits will appear on your HiRE account, but deposit availability is different for each financial institution. You can check your HiRE account online to verify that your weekly benefit amount has been processed.

The HiRE website is used to file unemployment claims, job searches and other functions. According to GSI, there was no data breach and the personal information of HiRE users was not compromised.

The quickest, easiest way to file a claim is through the HiRE site at https://www.louisianaworks.net/hire/. Additionally, phone filing remains available, as it was last week.
