Initial unemployment insurance claims rise for week ending July 10

BATON ROUGE – The initial unemployment insurance claims for the week ending July 10, 2021 rose to 4,558 from the week ending July 3, 2021 total of 4,222. For a comparison, during the week ending July 11, 2020, 26,351 initial claims were filed.

The four-week moving average of initial claims decreased to 4,297 from the previous week’s average of 4,468.

The unemployment insurance continued claims for the week ending July 10, 2021 decreased to 49,230 from the week ending July 3, 2021 total of 49,973. The continued claims were below the comparable figure of 312,893 for the week ending July 11, 2020.

The four-week moving average of continued claims decreased to 49,467 from the previous week’s average of 49,499.
