Initial unemployment insurance claims drop for week ending June 26

BATON ROUGE – The initial unemployment insurance claims for the week ending June 26, 2021 dropped to 4,129 from the week ending June 19, 2021 total of 4,278. For a comparison, during the week ending June 27, 2020, 21,976 initial claims were filed.

The four-week moving average of initial claims decreased to 4,805 from the previous week’s average of 5,166.

The unemployment insurance continued claims for the week ending June 26, 2021 decreased to 49,163 from the week ending June 19, 2021 total of 49,503. The continued claims were below the comparable figure of 306,089 for the week ending June 27, 2020.

The four-week moving average of continued claims increased to 49,515 from the previous week’s average of 49,145.
