BATON ROUGE – The initial unemployment insurance claims for the week ending August 17, 2019 dropped to 1,994 from the previous week’s total of 2,081. For a comparison, during the week ending August 18, 2018, 2,193 initial claims were filed.
The four-week moving average of initial claims decreased to 2,056 from the previous week’s average of 2,145.
The unemployment insurance continued claims for the week ending August 17, 2019 decreased to 16,787 from the previous week’s total of 17,513. The continued claims were below the comparable figure of 18,104 for the week ending August 18, 2018.
The four-week moving average of continued claims decreased to 17,555 from the previous week’s average of 17,780.
