Initial unemployment insurance claims drop for week ending August 10

BATON ROUGE – The initial unemployment insurance claims for the week ending August 10, 2019 dropped to 2,081 from the previous week’s total of 2,126. For a comparison, during the week ending August 11, 2018, 2,111 initial claims were filed.

The four-week moving average of initial claims decreased to 2,145 from the previous week’s average of 2,227.

The unemployment insurance continued claims for the week ending August 10, 2019 decreased to 17,513 from the previous week’s total of 18,179. The continued claims were below the comparable figure of 18,811 for the week ending August 11, 2018.

The four-week moving average of continued claims increased to 17,780 from the previous week’s average of 17,754.
