Initial unemployment insurance claims drop for week ending July 27

BATON ROUGE – The initial unemployment insurance claims for the week ending July 27, 2019 dropped to 2,022 from the previous week’s total of 2,349. For a comparison, during the week ending July 28, 2018, 2,172 initial claims were filed.

The four-week moving average of initial claims decreased to 2,156 from the previous week’s average of 2,202.

The unemployment insurance continued claims for the week ending July 27, 2019 increased to 17,740 from the previous week’s total of 17,688. The continued claims were below the comparable figure of 19,232 for the week ending July 28, 2018.

The four-week moving average of continued claims increased to 17,483 from the previous week’s average of 17,453.
