LWC offices closed for extended Thanksgiving holiday; early filing for UI benefits urged

The Louisiana Workforce Commission’s Baton Rouge headquarters and most of the agency’s statewide network of Business and Career Solutions Centers will be closed Thursday, November 22, and Friday, November 23, in observance of Thanksgiving and Acadian Day. LWC offices will resume normal business hours on Monday, November 26. If you are an unemployment claimant, you are strongly encouraged to file for weekly unemployment benefits by Tuesday, November 20. Because of the banking holiday and office closure, any payment for unemployment claims filed after Tuesday, November 20, may not be available until the following week. You can also call the LWC’s toll-free line at 866-783-5567 to use self-service features. However, callers will not have the option of speaking with a customer service representative on Thursday or Friday. The Claim Center will re-open at 8 a.m. Monday, November 26.
