Louisiana Unemployment Insurance Tax Rates

The 2008 wage base remains at $7,000. The 2008 unemployment insurance (UI) tax rate notices will be mailed in December 2007. To see the tax rate schedules for experience-rated employers and the FUTA creditable figures for recent years, click on the selected year 2003 (PDF), 2004 (PDF), 2005 (PDF), 2006 (PDF), 2007 (PDF), or 2008 (PDF).

If you would like to call our interactive voice response system to get your UI tax rate, please call one of the Easy Call information numbers, and follow the instructions. To get your UI tax rate for the last four years, bypassing the entire script: dial the Easy Call number, wait for an answer, press 1-3-2-(7-digit account #), (pause for verification)-1, and then (pause for collection of data)-2-1.

A Voluntary Contribution is a one-time payment that may allow you to lower your UI tax rate by increasing the balance of your account's reserve. It may be made in any amount and is not mandatory. A Voluntary Contribution has no social charge assessment withheld; thus, it is a totally "creditable contribution" payment option offered to employers to exclusively increase an account's reserve. Eligible and Ineligible employers may make a Voluntary Contribution.

Voluntary contributions must be made within 30 days from the mail date on the Rate Notice. A voluntary contribution payment will not be applied as such to an account with a delinquent balance; the account balance must be current for a rate recalculation to be processed. Contact the Experience Rating Unit for more information on how a Voluntary Contribution may improve your tax rate.
