BATON ROUGE – Louisiana’s seasonally adjusted unemployment rate for November 2009 of 6.7 percent was the second lowest in the Southern region behind Virginia, which had a rate of 6.6 percent, and tied with Iowa and New Hampshire for ninth lowest in the United States.
The Southern region rate was 9.3 percent. The national rate was 10 percent.
Louisiana and Kentucky were tied for the largest rate reduction in the nation at .7 percentage points.
Louisiana was one of 36 states and the District of Columbia to record over-the-month unemployment rate decreases.
