LWC to Open Transition Center for International Paper - Pineville Mill Workers

PINEVILLE – The Louisiana Workforce Commission’s Rapid Response Team will open an on-site transition center to provide services for the workers who will be laid off at the end of December from the International Paper - Pineville Mill.

During its first week, the transition center will be open on Thursday, Nov. 12, from 5 a.m. - 9 a.m., and Friday, Nov. 13, from 6 a.m. - 6 p.m. The center also will be open on Nov. 19 and 20, and Dec. 3, 4, 10, 11, 17 and 18. On these dates, Thursday hours will change to 6 a.m. - 6 p.m., and Friday hours will be 5 a.m. - 9 a.m.

The center will be located at 300 Williams Lake Road in Pineville.

Services to be provided include job placement assistance, job counseling, job search workshops, labor market information, résumé preparation assistance, interview preparation, online job search assistance, veterans’ assistance information, occupational retraining, trade adjustment assistance, debt counseling, out-of-area job search assistance, relocation assistance, on-the-job training, unemployment insurance and other supportive services as needed.

Workforce Commission services are offered at no cost to the employer and participating employees.
