BRUSLY – The Louisiana Workforce Commission will conduct orientation sessions and open a worker transition center to assist the 190 people who will be laid off on July 18 from Trinity Marine Products in Brusly.
The sessions will be Monday, July 6, at 2 p.m. and 5 p.m. in the Trinity Marine Products training room at 7555 Choctaw Road in Brusly.
Orientation sessions are designed to inform affected employees about the services available to them through the LWC’s Rapid Response Unit.
An on-site worker transition center will be open on July 7 - 9, from 1 p.m. - 5 p.m.
Services to be provided include job placement assistance, job counseling, job search workshops, labor market information, résumé preparation assistance, interview preparation, online job search assistance, veterans’ assistance information, occupational retraining, trade adjustment assistance, debt counseling, out-of-area job search assistance, relocation assistance, on-the-job training, unemployment insurance and other supportive services as needed.
In addition to these services, a job fair will be held for impacted workers on Friday, July 10, from 10 a.m. - 2 p.m. at the West Baton Rouge Conference Center.
Workforce Commission services are offered at no cost to the employer and participating employees.
