JONESBORO – The Louisiana Workforce Commission’s Rapid Response team will be in Jonesboro on Wednesday, June 10, to conduct an orientation session for Weyerhaeuser workers who lost their jobs when the Dodson facility closed in March and are now eligible for Trade Adjustment Assistance (TAA).
The session will be held from 2 p.m. to 4 p.m. at the Jackson Parish Community Center at 182 Industrial Drive.
LWC’s Rapid Response staff will be conducting the orientation session, which will inform employees about the full array of TAA services available to them including training scholarships, job search and relocation allowances, income support and health coverage tax credits.
There are strict deadlines for applying for certain benefits provided by the TAA program, so workers who are unable to attend the June 10 meeting should contact their nearest Business and Career Solutions Center for assistance.
TAA services are offered at no cost to the employer or the participating employees, and all employees are encouraged to attend an orientation session to learn more about the services available to them.
Additional information about Trade Adjustment Assistance is available at the Louisiana Workforce Commission Web site at www.laworks.net/FAQs/FAQ_NAFTA_TAA.asp.
