La. Workforce Commission to Conduct Job Search Workshop for Weyerhaeuser Workers in Dodson

DODSON – The Louisiana Workforce Commission’s Rapid Response Team will conduct a Job Search Strategy workshop on Wednesday, April 15, from 10 a.m. to noon for Weyerhaeuser - Dodson mill workers who lost their jobs last month.

The workshop will be held at the Jackson Parish Public Library, 614 South Polk Avenue in Jonesboro.

“Workers will learn the importance of making a daily plan of activities that moves them closer to employment,” said Greg A. Anders with the LWC’s Business Services unit. “The plan could include making a specified number of cold calls to employers each day, updating one’s résumé to match a particular job opening or learning a new skill.”

The workshop is in addition to an orientation session held last week to inform workers about LWC services. From that session, several workers were referred to the Small Business Development Center to learn more about the entrepreneurial program.

For more information or to register for the workshop, contact Jeannie Tinkler, 318-251-5026, email

Workforce Commission services are offered at no cost to the employer and participating employees.
