BATON ROUGE— The Louisiana Workforce Commission announced today that the report titled “Louisiana Employment and Wages – Annual Report 2007” is available.
The publication contains 2007 covered employment and total wages by North American Industry Classification System (NAICS) sectors and sub-sectors for the state and by NAICS sectors for all parishes. These data are derived from the quarterly tax reports submitted by all employers subject to the Louisiana Employment Security Law and from supplemental reports giving parish data submitted by many multi-parish employers.
According to the report, the average covered employment in 2007 totaled 1,868,767. This indicated an increase of 3.4 percent compared to 1,807,659 in 2006. Employment in 53 of the 64 parishes increased in 2007.
The report also shows that:
Total wages for 2007 showed a gain of 8.0 percent from 2006.
The 2007 average weekly wage for employment continued to rise in 2007, with an average increase of $31 over 2006.
The 2007 average weekly wage for all industries was $735.
