BASTROP – The Louisiana Workforce Commission’s Rapid Response team will be in Bastrop Thursday and Friday to conduct orientation sessions for International Paper workers who lost their jobs when the Bastrop facility closed last November and are now eligible for Trade Adjustment Assistance (TAA).
Sessions will be held at the Bastrop/Morehouse Visitor’s Center at 124 North Washington Street in Bastrop.
LWC’s Rapid Response staff will be conducting the orientation sessions, which will inform employees about the full array of TAA services available to them including training scholarships, job search and relocation allowances, income support and health coverage tax credits.
Scheduling for the sessions is based upon the first letter of the employees’ last names. Employees whose last names begin with the letters A - K should attend on Thursday, Feb. 5, from 9 a.m. - 11 a.m. or on Friday, Feb. 6, from 8 a.m. - 10 a.m.
Employees whose last names begin with the letters L - Z are being asked to attend on Thursday, Feb. 5, from noon - 2 p.m. or on Friday, Feb. 6, from 10:30 a.m. - 12:30 p.m.
An additional session will be held on Thursday, Feb. 5, from 3 p.m. - 5 p.m. for those who are unable to attend one of the other sessions.
TAA services are offered at no cost to the employer or the participating employees, and all employees are encouraged to attend an orientation session to learn more about the services available to them.
