Employers offered space at Lafayette Region Veterans Job Fair

LAFAYETTE – Employers with job openings are encouraged to participate in a veterans-only job fair from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. Thursday, May 8, at South Louisiana Community College – Lafayette Campus at 320 Devalcourt.

Veterans must present their DD-214 discharge papers, VA card or military identification to participate.

“Employers should take advantage of this opportunity to hire veterans,” said Marietta Taylor, local veterans employment representative with the Louisiana Department of Labor. “Veterans bring maturity, discipline and a strong work ethic to the workplace. When an employer hires a veteran, they both win.”

Businesses of all types are encouraged to participate. Employers should reserve their free booth space early. More than 40 businesses are expected to attend.

For more information or to reserve free booth space, contact Marietta Taylor with the Lafayette Career Solutions veterans unit at 337-262-1748.
