SHREVEPORT - The Louisiana Department of Labor’s Rapid Response unit will offer orientation sessions for 62 employees of WinCup Holdings who will lose their jobs on Feb. 12 because of a consolidation of the company’s operations.
The sessions will be held at 7 a.m., 2 p.m. and 3 p.m. Thursday, Jan. 10 at the company’s facility at 7501 East Trammel in Shreveport.
"All employees affected by the layoff are encouraged to attend one of the orientation sessions," said Greg A. Anders, state Rapid Response coordinator. "We will be providing valuable information and resources to prepare these workers for the future."
WinCup Holdings, a manufacturing company with 10 plants across the country, produces disposable cups and plastic lids. The Shreveport facility will be closed as a result of the consolidation.
Rapid Response is an outplacement service offered to workers affected by major layoffs and plants closings. The orientation sessions are designed to inform affected employees about the services available to them through Rapid Response.
Services include: job placement assistance, job counseling, job search workshops, labor market information, résumé preparation assistance, interviewing techniques, computerized job search assistance, veterans’ assistance information, occupational retraining, trade adjustment assistance, debt counseling, out-of-area job search assistance, relocation assistance, on-the-job training, unemployment insurance and other supportive services as needed.
Rapid Response services are offered at no cost to the employer or the participating employees.
