New Orleans veterans Job Fair set for Nov. 5
More than 50 businesses scheduled to participate

NEW ORLEANS –The opportunity for a new job or career advancement will await those who attend a job fair for both veterans and the general public from 8:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. Monday, Nov. 5 at American Legion Hall, post 307 at 5518 Magazine St.

“Veterans Up Front and Center” is the theme for the job fair. The first two hours, from 8:30 a.m. to 10:30 a.m., are reserved for veterans only. Veterans must present their DD-214 discharge papers, VA card or military identification to participate. Beginning at 10:30 a.m., everyone will be admitted.

“We want to give everyone in the area a chance to meet with many of our area’s top employers, but we want to give our veterans first and exclusive access as the job fair begins,” said Hal Brown, local veterans employment representative with Orleans JOB1 Business & Career Solutions Center, the sponsor of the event.

Employers confirmed to attend include: Boh Bros. Construction, Bollinger Shipyards, Capital One, Cox Communications, The Home Depot, Lockheed Martin, Northrop Grumman, Office Depot and UPS.
