Employers offered space at New Orleans veterans job fair
Veterans and the general public to attend at designated times

NEW ORLEANS –Businesses with job openings are encouraged to participate in a job fair for both veterans and the general public from 8:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. Monday, Nov. 5 at American Legion Hall, post 307 at 5518 Magazine St.

The first two hours, from 8:30 a.m. to 10:30 a.m., are reserved for veterans only. Beginning at 10:30 a.m., everyone will be admitted.

“Veterans Up Front and Center” is the theme for the job fair.

“Similar job fairs are being held in all 50 states during the month of November,” said Hal Brown, local veterans employment representative with JOB 1 Business & Career Solutions Center, the sponsor of the event. “It is a chance for our business community to come together and show their support for our veterans.”

“Including the general public is a unique approach that has demonstrated success in other locations,” Brown said. “This will enable participating employers to meet the most diverse group of potential employees. We expect this to be a win-win situation for our business community and a great opportunity for all job seekers in our area.”

Businesses of all types are encouraged to participate. Employers should reserve their free booth space early, as space is limited.

Veterans must present their DD-214 discharge papers, VA card or military identification to participate.

For more information or to reserve free booth space, contact Hal Brown with JOB 1 Business & Career Solutions Center at (504) 568-7251 or Felix Romero with West Bank Career Solutions Center at (504) 364-5625.
