Lafayette Veterans job fair set for March 8

LAFAYETTE – Job and career opportunities will await military veterans who attend the Lafayette Veterans Job Fair from 9 a.m. to noon Thursday, March 8 at the Holiday Inn Holidome Atrium at 2032 N. Evangeline Thruway.

“We will have a diverse group of employers who are looking to hire veterans,” said Tim Jack, local veterans employment representative with the Louisiana Department of Labor. “They are looking for dependable workers at every career level, from skilled to entry.”

The fair is open to veterans and their spouses. Veterans must bring a copy of their DD-214 discharge papers, or any form of military identification and copies of their résumé.

Employers confirmed to attend include: Oceaneering International, Inc., Taylor International Services, Inc., Baker Energy, RaceTrac Petroleum, Fugro Chance, Inc., Schlumberger, Halliburton, The Home Depot, Coastal Truck Driving School, University of Phoenix, Louisiana Machinery Co., LLC, Cingular Wireless (New AT&T), Lafayette Police Department, Lafayette Parish Sheriff’s Office, Louisiana Air National Guard, Cintas Corporation, ARDD, Bollinger Ship Yard, Lafayette General Medical Center, Our Lady of Lourdes, Specialty Rental Tools and Supply, Northwestern Mutual Financial Network and ENSCO.

The Holiday Inn Holidome is located at 2032 N. Evangeline Thruway.
