Employers can find skilled workers at ‘veterans only’ job fair

LAFAYETTE - Employers seeking skilled, dependable workers are encouraged to participate in a job fair for veterans only, sponsored by the Louisiana Department of Labor, from 9 a.m. to noon Thursday, March 8 at the Holiday Inn Holidome Atrium at 2032 N. Evangeline Thruway.

“Veterans bring maturity, responsibility and discipline to the workplace,” said Tim Jack, local veterans employment representative with the labor department. “Employers would benefit greatly by participating in this job fair and hiring veterans.”

Businesses of all types are invited to participate. Employers should reserve their free booth space early. Some of the region’s largest employers will be collecting résumés and interviewing for immediate job openings.

The fair is open to veterans and their spouses. Veterans must bring a copy of their DD-214 discharge papers, or any form of military identification and copies of their résumé.

For more information or to reserve free booth space, contact Tim Jack or Mark Guillory with the labor department’s veterans unit at (337) 262-5570.
