Space available for employers at job fair for West Telemarketing employees

BATON ROUGE - Businesses seeking workers with customer service and telemarketing experience are encouraged to participate in a job fair strictly for the employees of West Telemarketing, which is scheduled to close its Baton Rouge call center on Feb. 28.

The job fair will be held from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Thursday, Feb. 22 at West Telemarketing at 7850 Anselmo Lane. The event is co-sponsored by the Louisiana Department of Labor’s Rapid Response unit and the Baton Rouge North Career Solutions Center.

West has operated a call center in Baton Rouge since 1998. About 230 employees will be affected by the closure.

“Employers would benefit greatly by participating in this job fair,” said Dennis Heverly, state Rapid Response coordinator with the Louisiana Department of Labor. “These workers have acquired valuable experience during their employment with West, and their skills would be a tremendous asset to any business that depends on customer contact.”

There is no charge for businesses to participate. Tables and chairs will be provided.

Employers interested in participating should contact Dennis Heverly at (225) 342-2934 or by email at dheverly@ldol.state.la.us.
