Employers offered space at a job fair for veterans in Baton Rouge

BATON ROUGE –Employers seeking skilled, dependable workers are encouraged to participate in a job fair for veterans only, sponsored by the Louisiana Department of Labor, from 8:30 a.m. to noon Thursday, April 5 at the American Legion, Nicholson Post #38 at 151 S. Wooddale Blvd.

“Employers should take advantage of this opportunity to recruit some of the most dedicated and reliable workers available,” said Bob Harman, local veterans employment representative with the labor department. “Veterans have proven themselves to be mature, responsible individuals. Companies have had great success with their work ethic.”

Businesses of all types are invited to participate. Employers should reserve their free booth space early. More than 50 businesses are expected to attend. Refreshments will be provided.

The fair is open to veterans and their spouses. Veterans must bring a copy of their DD-214 discharge papers, or any form of military identification and should bring copies of their résumé.

For more information or to reserve free booth space, contact Bob Hartman with the labor department’s veterans unit at (225) 922-1320.
