BATON ROUGE – The initial unemployment insurance claims for the week ending Feb. 1, 2020 rose to 2,058 from the previous week’s total of 1,878. For a comparison, during the week ending Feb. 2, 2019, 2,062 initial claims were filed.
The four-week moving average of initial claims increased to 2,116 from the previous week’s average of 2,016.
The unemployment insurance continued claims for the week ending Feb. 1, 2020 increased to 16,189 from the previous week’s total of 15,500. The continued claims were below the comparable figure of 16,467 for the week ending Feb. 2, 2019.
The four-week moving average of continued claims decreased to 15,931 from the previous week’s average of 16,022.
