BATON ROUGE – The initial unemployment insurance claims for the week ending Sept. 28, 2019 dropped to 1,612 from the previous week’s total of 1,653. For a comparison, during the week ending Sept. 29, 2018, 1,802 initial claims were filed.
The four-week moving average of initial claims decreased to 1,689 from the previous week’s average of 1,756.
The unemployment insurance continued claims for the week ending Sept. 28, 2019 decreased to 14,054 from the previous week’s total of 14,515. The continued claims were below the comparable figure of 15,816 for the week ending Sept. 29, 2018.
The four-week moving average of continued claims decreased to 14,644 from the previous week’s average of 15,050.
