LWC recognizes achievements of Nunez Community College Chancellor Tommy Warner

BATON ROUGE – This week, the Louisiana Workforce Commission (LWC) joined the local Business and Career Solutions Center and Nunez Community College (Nunez) in honoring Dr. Thomas Warner for his decades-spanning career and for his commitment to integrating workforce development programs into the higher education curriculum.

Warner was recognized Oct. 18 during a ceremony held at Nunez's Fine Arts Center in Chalmette. The event was organized by Melissa Kirsch and the First Planning District Workforce Development Board.

Regional business leaders, including LWC Executive Director Ava Dejoie, lauded Dr. Warner for his contributions to economic and workforce development in St. Bernard Parish.

"The impact of Dr. Warner's investment into current and future generations of our working class is significant and cannot be understated,” Dejoie said. He understands the importance of education and how the skills students acquire can affect the trajectory of their professional careers. Dr. Warner is an also a champion for economic growth in the region and as the Louisiana Community and Technical College System’s motto declares, he is ‘changing lives,’ and ‘creating futures.’”

Warner offered words of appreciation for the joint collaboration between Nunez and the LWC, saying, “The Louisiana Workforce Commission is an important partner for us at Nunez. Countless students have been able to enter in-demand careers as a result of this partnership. I appreciate everything the Commission and Director Dejoie have done to support workforce education at Nunez, and I am so proud of where our college is today.”
