BATON ROUGE – The Louisiana Workforce Commission (LWC) is assisting the combined efforts of State Representative Edward “Ted” James, the Urban League of Greater New Orleans (ULGNO) and K.I.D.S./Fashion Delivers, an organization committed to help people of poverty and tragedy, to provide a free retail shopping experience for recent Louisiana flood victims.
On Thursday, October 27, Cortana Mall in downtown Baton Rouge will open their doors to host the “Red Stick Retail Shop.” This event will provide new clothing and other personal items to people impacted by the Louisiana flooding. Participants will be able to purchase their new items through an issued voucher at the event. In order to receive a voucher, participants will be requested to provide a valid photo ID and an official letter from the Federal Emergency Management Area (FEMA).
“The LWC is proud to work with our partners in delivering much-needed assistance to our neighbors affected by the recent devastating flooding,” said Louisiana Workforce Commission Executive Director Ava Dejoie. “Our agency is committed to helping as many as we can to make these tough times just a little easier, from finding new employment opportunities to gaining access to essential items.”
The event will take place beginning on Thursday, October 27 from 2 p.m. – 7 p.m. and will run through Sunday, October 30, from 1 p.m. – 5 p.m. On Friday, October 28, and Saturday, October 29, observed shopping hours will be from 11 a.m. – 7 p.m. All shopping will take place at Cortana Mall.
