Louisiana unemployment insurance claims report Nov. 14, 2014

BATON ROUGE – Initial unemployment insurance claims for the week ending Nov. 8, 2014, increased to 2,352 from the previous week’s total of 2,178. Initial claims were below the comparable week ending Nov. 9, 2013, figure of 2,707.

The four-week moving average of initial claims decreased to 2,181 from the previous week’s average of 2,212.

Continued unemployment insurance weeks claimed for the week ending Nov. 8, 2014, decreased to 19,067 from the previous week’s total of 19,190. Continued weeks claimed were below the comparable week ending Nov. 9, 2013, figure of 22,486.

The four-week moving average of continued weeks claimed increased to 19,125 from the previous week’s average of 19,095.

The total number of people who filed a claim for regular unemployment insurance in Louisiana, and received at least one check during the reference month, decreased to 18,600 in October 2014, down 1,693 from 20,293 in September 2014.
