Louisiana unemployment insurance claims report Oct. 3, 2014

BATON ROUGE – Initial unemployment insurance claims for the week ending Sept. 27, 2014, decreased to 1,887 from the previous week’s total of 2,068. The week ending Sept. 27, 2014 had the lowest level of initial claims since the week ending March 8, 2014 with 1,857. Initial claims were below the comparable week ending Sept. 28, 2013, figure of 2,307.

The four-week moving average of initial claims decreased to 1,997 from the previous week’s average of 2,084.

Continued unemployment insurance weeks claimed for the week ending Sept. 27, 2014, decreased to 19,586 from the previous week’s total of 20,053. The week ending Sept. 27, 2014 had the lowest level of continued claims since the week ending May 31, 2014 with 19,576. Continued weeks claimed were below the comparable week ending Sept. 28, 2013, figure of 23,551.

The four-week moving average of continued weeks claimed decreased to 20,216 from the previous week’s average of 20,685.
