LAKE CHARLES, La. – Preparing youths for high-demand careers in the area’s fast-growing industrial construction industry is the focus of this year’s annual Youth Summit and Job Fair hosted by the Calcasieu Workforce Center.
The job fair is Wednesday, April 16, from 7:45 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the Lake Charles Civic Center, 900 Lakeshore Drive in Lake Charles.
The summit will connect youths and young adults aged 16-24 with employers, resources and post-secondary education and training providers. Workshops will address work readiness, economic growth and demand occupations in Southwest Louisiana.

Representatives from McNeese State University, SOWELA Technical Community College, Associated Builders and Contractors Inc. and other local education and training providers will provide information on classes and programs that qualify youths for high-demand jobs.
