COVINGTON, La. — Covington’s historic Southern Hotel will host a job fair Tuesday, April 15 and Wednesday, April 16 from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. at the Greater Covington Center’s Bogue Falaya Hall, 317 N. Jefferson Ave. in Covington.
“The opening of the newly renovated Southern Hotel will add permanent full-time jobs and stimulate economic growth and activity in historic downtown Covington,” said Mike Cooper, Mayor of Covington. “The City of Covington is pleased to partner with the hotel and the Louisiana Workforce Commission’s St. Tammany Business and Career Solutions Center to make this job fair a success.”
Representatives at the job fair are hiring for 27 positions, including front desk personnel, housekeeping staff, bartenders, part-time servers and banquet set-up staff.

The Southern Hotel, located 45 minutes north of New Orleans in downtown Covington, first opened in 1907 and hosted guests for more than 50 years. Developers Lisa Condrey Ward, Joseph Ward and Ricky and Gayle Condrey have launched a full-scale restoration of the 40-plus room hotel, which is expected to open June 1, 2014.
