Louisiana unemployment insurance claims report April 4, 2014

BATON ROUGE – Initial unemployment insurance claims for the week ending March 29, 2014, decreased to 1,985 from the previous week’s total of 2,131. Initial claims were above the comparable week ending March 30, 2013, figure of 1,663.

The four-week moving average of initial claims decreased to 2,051 from the previous week’s average of 2,086.

Continued unemployment insurance weeks claimed for the week ending March 29, 2014, decreased to 19,599 from the previous week’s total of 19,639. Continued weeks claimed were below the comparable week ending March 30, 2013, figure of 23,438.

The four-week moving average of continued weeks claimed decreased to 19,874 from the previous week’s average of 20,326.

The total number of people who filed a claim for regular unemployment insurance in Louisiana, and received at least one check during the reference month, decreased to 19,776 in March 2014, down 1,404 from 21,180 in February 2014.
