Louisiana unemployment insurance claims report Mar. 7, 2014

BATON ROUGE – Initial unemployment insurance claims for the week ending Mar. 1, 2014, increased to 2,125 from the previous week’s total of 1,964. Initial claims were below the comparable week ending Mar. 2, 2013, figure of 2,887.

The four-week moving average of initial claims increased to 2,119 from the previous week’s average of 2,084.

Continued unemployment insurance weeks claimed for the week ending Mar. 1, 2014, decreased to 21,409 from the previous week’s total of 21,835. Continued weeks claimed were below the comparable week ending Mar. 2, 2013, figure of 28,217.

The four-week moving average of continued weeks claimed decreased to 22,151 from the previous week’s average of 22,502.
