Louisiana unemployment insurance claims report July 12, 2013

BATON ROUGE – Initial unemployment insurance claims for the week ending July 6, 2013, decreased to 2,084 from the previous week’s total of 3,027. The shortened work week because of the July 4-5 holidays contributed to the sharp decrease.

Initial claims were below the comparable week ending July 7, 2012, figure of 3,960.

The four-week moving average of initial claims decreased to 2,763 from the previous week’s average of 3,181.

Continued unemployment insurance weeks claimed for the week ending July 6, 2013, decreased to 25,008 from the previous week’s total of 25,389. Continued weeks claimed were below the comparable week ending July 7, 2012, figure of 35,461.

The four-week moving average of continued weeks claimed increased to 24,849 from the previous week’s average of 24,505.
