The Louisiana Workforce Commission will host a webinar March 27 to provide employers with training for a new web-based service for reporting workplace injuries and illnesses.
LWC’s Office of Workers’ Compensation encourages trading partners, which are also known as insurers, self-insured employers and claim administrators to participate in the no-cost webinar to learn about the agency’s Electronic Data Interchange system.
The webinar will take place from 1 p.m. to 2:30 p.m. central standard time. To access the webinar, participants should call the toll-free number, 1-877-427-8781 and use conference code 6305951 or by web at

In 2012, the Louisiana legislature passed laws requiring insurers, self-insured employers, and claim administrators including state, parish, municipalities and school boards to file accident reports with the LWC in an electronic format compatible with national EDI standards.
The new law mandating the electronic filing of the First Report of Injury form will go into effect Jan. 1, 2014, and will apply to all work-related accidents. The EDI reporting system will replace all employer reports of injury/illness, or Form 1007 correspondence submitted to the agency by postal mail, fax and email.
The webinar is one of many resources being offered by the agency’s Office of Workers’ Comp to assist employers and trading partners prior to the required use of EDI.
For questions regarding the webinar or EDI, email email@example.com or call Johnnie Perkins at 225-342-7586.
