The Louisiana Workforce Commission has announced the 2013 Northeast Louisiana Employer Forum has been rescheduled for Wednesday, March 20, from 8:30 a.m. to 11 a.m. in the Fort Miro Room at the Monroe Convention Center, 401 Lea Joyner Memorial Expressway.
The forum, originally planned for January, was cancelled due to severe weather in Monroe. The rescheduled event will bring together business people, local government leaders and higher education and state government officials to discuss workforce developments in the Northeast region. LWC Executive Director Curt Eysink will give the keynote address.
The event will focus on services the LWC provides to businesses, how area employers can work with local Workforce Investment Boards and staff to strengthen the region’s workforce, ways to close the gaps between the available workforce and specific skills businesses are seeking and how to use wage and labor market data to drive business decisions. The LWC also will highlight some of the latest new tools and resources we’ve developed to help employers find qualified workers.
Staff from local Business and Career Solutions Centers will be available to answer questions. Employers from Ouachita, Morehouse, Union, West Carroll, East Carroll, Caldwell, Franklin, Jackson, Madison, Richland and Tensas parishes are encouraged to attend.
The forum is sponsored by the Workforce Investment Boards 81, 82 and 83 and Northeast Louisiana Workforce Centers Inc.
There is no cost for businesses to attend the forum, but pre-registration is recommended. Attendees should register by Wednesday, March. 13. For more information contact Ruth Jones at email@example.com, or at 318-362-3281.
