A two-day job fair will be held for Jo-Ann Fabric and Craft Stores, which is looking to hire 50 to 60 employees to fill various positions for a new location in Slidell. The store is expected to open in March near the Northshore Square Mall.
The job fair will be held Jan. 21 and 22 from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. each day at the Slidell City Hall, 2055 Second St.
Prior to the job fair, interested job seekers are encouraged to visit the St. Tammany Business and Career Solutions Center, 524 Gause Blvd., Slidell, to work on interviewing and resume building skills. At the job fair, potential applicants will be interviewed on the spot. Applicants are encouraged to dress professionally.
Applicants must possess a high school diploma or equivalency; be 18 years of age or older and able to work days, nights, weekends and holidays. Potential job seekers must be willing and have the ability to stand, kneel and bend for two to eight hours at a time, and must be able to lift up to 40 pounds. Applicants should have a great attitude and high-energy personality. Experience in retail and merchandising is preferred but not necessary.
