Unemployment Insurance Claims Report December 14, 2012

BATON ROUGE – Initial unemployment insurance claims for the week ending Dec. 8, 2012, decreased to 3,516 from the previous week’s total of 4,048. Initial claims were below the comparable week ending Dec. 10, 2011, figure of 4,103.

The four-week moving average of initial claims increased to 3,286 from the previous week’s average of 3,179.

Continued unemployment insurance weeks claimed for the week ending Dec. 8, 2012, increased to 31,287 from the previous week’s total of 30,723. Continued weeks claimed were below the comparable week ending Dec. 10, 2011, figure of 42,226.

The four-week moving average of continued weeks claimed increased to 30,194 from the previous week’s average of 29,939.
