The Louisiana Workforce Commission and the nonprofit group International Workers' Compensation Foundation will present the third annual Louisiana Workers' Compensation Educational Conference Jan. 24-25. The event will be held at the Renaissance Baton Rouge Hotel, 7000 Bluebonnet Blvd.
The conference brings together employers and industry experts in law, medicine and insurance to discuss ongoing reforms and new ways to improve workers’ compensation for everyone in Louisiana. The two-day event is designed for employers, claims professionals, insurance adjusters, self-insurers, third-party administrators, attorneys, vocational rehabilitation providers, doctors, safety and risk managers and human resource professionals. Anyone whose work involves the workers’ compensation system is encouraged to attend.
The conference will focus on current rules, procedures, policies and forms relating to the state workers’ compensation system, including updates on medical treatment guidelines, fee schedules, case law and legislative issues. Other topics will include obesity in the workplace, social media, Medicare set-asides, a judges’ panel, utilization review rules and services offered by the LWC’s Office of Workers’ Compensation Administration.
Attendees may be eligible for continuing education credits. Application is pending for Louisiana MCLE credit for attorneys and CEU, CRC, CDMS and CCM credit for rehabilitation providers, and a certificate of attendance will be available for other professional disciplines.
