BATON ROUGE – Initial unemployment insurance claims for the week ending Oct. 13, 2012, decreased to 2,909 from the previous week’s total of 3,050. Initial claims were below the comparable week ending Oct. 15, 2011, figure of 3,423.
The four-week moving average of initial claims decreased to 3,021 from the previous week’s average of 3,512.
Continued unemployment insurance weeks claimed for the week ending Oct. 13, 2012, decreased to 30,946 from the previous week’s total of 31,541. This was the lowest level since the week ending Nov. 29, 2008 with 28,944. Continued weeks claimed were below the comparable week ending Oct. 15, 2011, figure of 41,338.
The four-week moving average of continued weeks claimed decreased to 31,785 from the previous week’s average of 32,413.
