LWC’s Rapid Response team to assist Lallie Kemp employees

The Louisiana Workforce Commission’s Rapid Response team is providing re-employment and job counseling services today to assist workers of Lallie Kemp Regional Medical Center, located in Tangipahoa Parish.

LWC’s Rapid Response team has scheduled three on-site worker orientations to help hospital employees access services and resources available through the LWC. The orientation sessions are today at 10 a.m., 1 p.m. and 8 p.m.

The Rapid Response team provides employee job placement assistance, job counseling, job search workshops, labor market information, résumé preparation assistance, interviewing techniques, computerized job search assistance, veterans assistance information, occupational retraining, trade adjustment assistance, debt counseling, out-of-area job search assistance, relocation assistance, on-the-job training, unemployment insurance and other supportive services as needed.

A job fair for hospital employees also will be held Oct. 30 from 9 a.m. to noon at First Presbyterian Church, 411 W. Charles St., Hammond. LWC’s mobile unit, a customized RV fitted with computers and internet access, will be available for employees to complete online applications. Employers seeking to hire registered nurses, licensed practical nurses, technicians, administrative secretaries, custodians and food service workers should contact LWC’s workforce officers, Paula Gatlin at 985-902-4200 or Lynn Champagne at 225-647-5557 to register for the job fair.

State employees who are interested in job services can visit the resource link on LWC’s homepage, www.laworks.net for additional information, tips or to apply for unemployment insurance benefits.
