Area employers with job openings are encouraged to participate in a job fair geared for local veterans and active duty military looking for employment opportunities.
The 7th Annual Northwest Louisiana Veterans’ Job & Resource Fair will take place Thursday, May 17, from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the Bossier Civic Center, 620 Benton Road, Bossier City.
Government agencies and community organizations with resource information are also asked to take part.
Veterans offer valuable experience and leadership skills, and often make strong job candidates.
This year’s job fair is expected to attract more than 500 veterans and military personnel in search of jobs, making it a great opportunity for employers seeking to fill positions.
To help get veterans back into the workforce, federal tax credits are available to employers who hire unemployed veterans and also those with service-connected disabilities.
The event, sponsored by the Louisiana Workforce Commission, Coordinating and Development Corporation, City of Bossier and the City of Shreveport, is being offered at no cost to employers and participating groups.
Employers are encouraged to reserve their free booth space early as space is limited. For more information or to register, contact Ron Knafla, firstname.lastname@example.org or call 318-741-7366.
