Youth Summit to Help Young Job Seekers Prepare for Job Search, Employment
Some 25 employers will be on hand to conduct interviews

Lake Charles area youths can get free help to prepare for and join the workforce while local area employers will be able to meet and interview this youthful pool of potential applicants at the 2012 Youth Summit and Job Fair.

The Calcasieu Workforce Center will host its annual youth event Wednesday, April 4, from 7:30 a.m. to noon at the Lake Charles Boston Academy of Learning, 1509 Enterprise Blvd., Lake Charles.

Youths aged 16 to 24 are encouraged to attend the summit and job fair. Last year more than 150 youths attended, and this year that number is expected to increase.

The keynote speaker is Debbie Silver, PhD, an award-winning educator with 30 years experience as a classroom teacher, staff development instructor and university professor.

The event is sponsored by the Calcasieu Parish Policy Jury and Workforce Investment Board 51 in conjunction with the Louisiana Workforce Commission, and funded by the Workforce Investment Act.

Twenty-five employers are expected to participate and conduct interviews for various job openings. Some of the employers scheduled to participate include Cajun Construction, Weiser Security, Primerica Financial, Kroger, Sam’s, Calcasieu Parish Police Jury, Calcasieu Sheriff’s Office, L’Auberge Casino Resort, AmeriCorps( Impact Lake Charles), Home Depot, Unitec, Central Trade and Labor Council, Bolton Ford, High Hope Care Center (Sulphur) and Eye Masters.
