The Louisiana Workforce Commission is proud to cosponsor Hiring Our Heroes, a hiring fair geared to assist veterans and their spouses find meaningful employment. The event will take place Thursday, Jan. 26, from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. at the England Airpark Army Processing Facility, 1804 Oliver Drive, Alexandria. This special hiring fair is free for employers, veterans, active duty, Guard and Reserve members.
Employers interested in an applicant pool that can hit the ground running, have a team member attitude and possess leadership qualities are encouraged to participate. Pre-registration is required for employers and veteran job seekers, prior to Friday, Jan. 20, by visiting www.uschamber.com/veterans/alexandria-la.
Organizations responsible for making the Hiring Our Heroes event possible include the U.S. Chamber of Commerce, Central Louisiana Chamber of Commerce, U.S. Department of Labor Veteran Services, Employer Support of the Guard and Reserve, JRTC/Fort Polk, Central Louisiana Economic Development Alliance, Business Acceleration System, Alexandria Veterans Administration, Rapides Parish Vet Center, Louisiana National Guard, England Industrial Airpark, and Community and Operation Homefront Louisiana.
Some of the companies scheduled to participate include University of Phoenix, Cleco Corporation, General Atomics Aeronautical, TSA, Oceaneering Intíl Inc., The Hertz Corporation, Billeter Professional Solutions, Superior Energy Services, ConAgra Foods Lamb Weston, Waste Management, Crest Industries, RoyOMartin, Stupp Corporation, Cellular One, Bollinger Shipyards and Boise Cascade, LLC., along with many others.
