BATON ROUGE - Louisiana’s jobs gain in September ranked third in the country, according to the federal Bureaus of Labor Statistics.
Louisiana added 14,100 nonfarm jobs in September, behind only Florida (23,300) and Texas (15,400), according to seasonally adjusted totals included in BLS’s monthly, regional and state employment and unemployment summary.
In September, nonfarm employment decreased in 25 states, increased in 24 states and the District of Columbia, and was unchanged in one state.
Louisiana also experienced the third highest over-the-month percentage increase in employment (0.7 percent), following only the District of Columbia (1.6 percent) and Hawaii (1.1 percent).
