BATON ROUGE - Initial claims for unemployment insurance (UI) for the week ending June 18, 2011, decreased to 4,166 from the previous week’s total of 4,445. Initial claims were below the comparable week ending June 19, 2010, figure of 4,450.
The four-week moving average of initial claims decreased to 4,723 from the previous week’s average of 4,789.
Continued unemployment insurance weeks claimed for the week ending June 18, 2011, increased to 47,151 from the previous week’s total of 46,927. Continued weeks claimed were below the comparable week ending June 19, 2010, figure of 57,713.
The four-week moving average of continued weeks claimed increased to 45,377 from the previous week’s average of 44,399.
