Office of Public Health Recruiting Relief Workers for Disaster Response

The Department of Health and Hospitals/Office of Public Health Homeland Security is actively recruiting relief workers to respond to disasters, whether natural or man-made, allowing the State of Louisiana to stand ready to respond when a federal declaration is established in the event of an emergency or disaster.

These are temporary WAE (When Actually Employed) positions; workers will only be paid for time worked or during approved training.

Relief workers are a pool of physicians, nurse practitioners, registered nurses, licensed practical nurses, nurse assistants, social workers and respiratory therapists who will be required to treat and respond in a field-type setting or environment with individuals who may be injured or require assistance with medical special needs during a disaster/response.

Support relief workers are administrators and administrative assistants who will be required to provide overall management, coordination and administrative support during a disaster/emergency.

Interested individuals should e-mail their resume or curriculum vitae to: dhhreliefstaff@la.gov by June 1, 2011.
