ZWOLLE – Weyerhaeuser NR Company employees in Zwolle who were affected by layoffs are now eligible to apply for additional training and re-employment services.
A petition filed with the U.S. Department of Labor requesting Trade Adjustment Assistance (TAA) was approved when it was determined that imports of articles or services like or directly competitive with those of the firm had increased. This decrease contributed to a significant number of employees being separated from their jobs.
The LWC’s Trade Adjustment Assistance unit will conduct a trade orientation session in the near future to inform employees about the full array of TAA services available to them including training programs, job search and relocation allowances, Trade Readjustment Allowance (TRA) and health coverage tax credits.
TAA services are offered at no cost to the employer or the participating employees.
Additional information about Trade Adjustment Assistance is available at the Louisiana Workforce Commission Web site at http://www.laworks.net/FAQs/FAQ_NAFTA_TAA.asp.
