Workforce Commission Providing Services to StarTek Workers in Alexandria

ALEXANDRIA – The Louisiana Workforce Commission’s Rapid Response team will be offering re-adjustment and job counseling services to dislocated StarTek workers in Alexandria.

Seminars will be held on Wednesday, Feb. 16, and Thursday, Feb. 17, at the Rapides Business and Career Solutions Center, 5610 B. Coliseum Blvd., Alexandria.

Schedule for Wednesday, Feb. 16

9 a.m. - Résumés and cover letters

10:15 a.m. - Networking

11:30 a.m. - Interviewing strategies

1 p.m. - Résumés and cover letters

2:15 p.m. - Budgeting (presented by Consumer Credit Counseling of Alexandria)

3:30 p.m. - Interviewing strategies

In addition to the seminars, the LWC also will open a Worker Transition Center at the Rapides Business and Career Solutions Center. The transition center will be open on Wednesday, Feb. 23, from 11 a.m. - 6 p.m., and Thursday, Feb. 24, from 8 a.m. - 4:30 p.m.

Participants will be given tips for using the LWC’s online resources at www.laworks.net, including preparing and posting a résumé, setting up automated job alerts and exploring training options. Information also will be available on LaCHIP and community services programs, labor market trends and the tax impact of job loss.

Workforce Commission services are offered at no cost to the employer or participating employees.
