BATON ROUGE – Individuals who received unemployment insurance benefits in 2010 can review and print their Form 1099-G information online through the Louisiana Workforce Commission’s website, www.laworks.net.
From the LWC home page, those wanting to print their 1099-G information should select “Unemployment Insurance” from the upper right navigation, then “Links for Claimants.” Users will need an active Personal Identification Number (PIN) to access the information. PIN set-up can be done online as well. Go to login page now.
In 2010, an estimated 185,016 individuals received more than $884.7 million in unemployment benefits through the LWC, including both regular, state-funded benefits and federally funded Emergency Unemployment Compensation (EUC) benefits.
All unemployment insurance benefits are considered taxable income by the Internal Revenue Service. A special federal tax exemption in place in 2009 was not extended, making all unemployment insurance benefit payments received in 2010 taxable.
The LWC is also mailing the 1099-G forms to customers this month in accordance with federal tax guidelines.
